An Excerpt from the book, “Inside the Millionaire’s Vault” by Nicola Jackson
I want you to take a visit with me in the world of 10 year-old Michael who is sitting in a classroom and the teacher is asking, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Some kids are shouting out, “I want to be a fireman”, another says, “I want to be a doctor” and yet another says, “I want to be a lawyer”. And then it gets quiet and Michael waits patiently for his turn and says smiling, “I want to be a millionaire!” He looks around and all of the kids are laughing and saying, “You can’t be a millionaire!” Michael exclaims, “I can be a millionaire!” My mom says I can be anything that I want to be”.
It goes without saying that limitations have been put on the mindsets of children by their parents, teachers, other adults and their peers that have an influence in their lives. Although it may not be intentional the fact is that other people’s beliefs be it right or wrong can impact your life greatly. Some people may have had negative experiences that lead to their beliefs and it causes them to feel that because of those experiences they must come to one conclusion and that it’s not possible to become wealthy.
Perhaps the fact of the matter is that because millionaires represent less than 5% of the population, it gives people the impression that it’s impossible for them to reach that status. But the reality is that the 5% who are wealthy made a conscious decision to be wealthy whereas the 95% made a conscious decision not to be wealthy.
Although we’re in the 21st Century, people are still living their lives on the surface and being influenced by those who have no experience with wealth. Because of this fact, many adults who are of the same mindset like those kids talking to Michael are still saying you can’t be a millionaire. People have bought into the mentality of “go with the flow”, which is following the masses that are not achieving wealth.
Have you ever asked yourself the question, why have some people not been affected by the economy? Is it because they have some advantage that we don’t have? Is it because they are more deserving? The answer is that these people have a different philosophy about money. Jim Rohn, America’s foremost business philosopher says, “Ones philosophy about money determines how much money you make, not the economy”. The fact I you make as much money as you feel you’re worth.
If you live your life buying into the false ideas and philosophies about money from the majority of the population then you will always find yourself trying to figure out how the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer.
There’s no doubt that people are losing their jobs and businesses are losing money, but because most had bought into the belief that the only way they could make a living was if someone gave them a job, it left many paralyzed. The challenges of the economy left many people like deer standing in the headlight, hypnotized and believing their life was over once they lost their job.
However, there were some who gave into their natural instinct to survive and those are the people who adopt a wealthy mindset. Remember there are more self-made millionaires created during hard times than any other time in history.
I once had a client (during my hair stylist days) who lost her job like many of my clients did and instead of claiming defeat she started searching for a solution, because she knew she had a child depending on her. So, instead of focusing on what she didn’t have (like most people do), she focused on what she did have, which was her great credit and the willingness to succeed. She was smart enough to know that she needed to act fast, so she began to explore many opportunities and ended up in a program that she discovered during her researching that allowed minorities and females to own their own franchise without putting monies down. With faith and follow through she became a successful franchise owner and moved on to her 2nd location and is now investing in other opportunities as well.
Like my client, many of us already have what we need to accomplish wealth. It may not be the same attributes, but nevertheless we all have the power to create what we want in life. The majority of people don’t know this, but we live I a system where the main aim is to recycle money back into the system. The difference is that the wealthy create their own system consisting of a number of opportunities, such as network marketing, internet marketing, financial investments, franchises and real estate just to name a few. In the 21st Century the name of the game is to keep your mind open and diversified.
Of course, there are a million ways to make a million dollars; all wealth begins with an idea. However, the wealthy know how to take calculated risk, which includes keeping an open mind to all opportunities that may increase their wealth. The wealthy also know how to leverage their money and leverage the talent of other people to create win-win situations for all involved.
So, no matter who you are, how you were brought up or what personal experiences you may have had you must always now and remember that your level of wealth and success is dependent upon what you believe, what you act on and what you allow yourself to experience. Remember, just like the store of Michael – YOU are who YOU say YOU are!
