It’s been almost 12 years since I heard the Lord whisper this exact scripture in my ear. It was Matthew [6:33]. I was pregnant with Kaden. I was driving to church alone. I was so afraid of what my life was turning to. I was a hairstylist. I was hairstylist — “How in the world are we gonna make it?” Robert was in construction and we were starting to get antsy. I went into church sobbing. And I left the church sobbing. I was driving and God said to me: “But seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness — and all these things shall be added to you.” Many will say, I know the kingdom. But what is this “righteous” thing? It’s God’s right that he gave to us as believers – to turn every obstacle into an opportunity. That takes us to Proverbs [4:25]-27. It says, “Let your eyes look straight ahead and let your eyelids look right before you. Ponder the path of your feet and let all your ways be established by God. Do not turn to the right or the left. Remove your foot from evil.” I heard him tell me, regarding these challenges and obstacles, “Keep going.” We’re talking about undiluted, not distracted, concentrated focus. First identify the obstacle so you can understand where your focus has to be for you to move through the opportunity. The obstacle is your path — the opportunity is your future. If you focus in on the obstacle and the past failure that it brought, you can concentrate on your present and ask, “Where am I going?” Keep moving. Keep looking straight. Stay on your path and know that it’s your right to win. Turn every lemon in your life into lemonade.
